Two on the Aisle, Three in a Van

by Mary Lynne Dobson

PECT is looking for 10 actors (6 men, 4 women) for our April show. Two on the Aisle, Three in a Van is a rollicking comedy about the wild and crazy backstage happenings at a local, live theatre. The tech crew and the directors are featured roles for actors in this one.

Mike – Director/Stage Manager, soon to be artistic director, good-looking, genuinely nice, thirties.

Jeannie – Stage Manager, wardrobe person, techie in general, has grown to hate the actors, thirties to fifties.

Vondo – Techie, sometimes actor, one time pot head, dressed as he was in high school- probably even in the same band shirt, owner of the van, fifties to sixties.

Jeff – The artistic director, forever trying to avoid disaster, high blood pressure and forever trying to avoid a stroke, fifties to sixties.

Scott – The new guy from the Midwest, costume designer, wardrobe person, nice guy, thirties to forties.

Eric – Director, writer, actor, threatens greatness but delivers nonsense, constantly morbid, mid thirties.

Meredith – Actress, usually gets the leads, a diva-wanna-be, feigns confidence, basically plain, thirties to forties.

Daniel – Actor, idiot, thinks he’s the ultimate theatre persona, obsessed with dancing, twenties.

Robin – Actress, plays all the ingenue roles, you just want to hug her because she is cute as cute can be, innocent, naïve, fifteen. (Actor playing this role must be 18 or older)

Harriet – Actress, sometimes wardrobe person, quick witted, real, sixties to seventies.
