Prince Edward Community Theatre’s first appearance at the Eastern Ontario Drama League Festival is a successful one
Prince Edward Community Theatre competed for the first time in the Eastern Ontario Drama League Festival hosted this year by Ottawa Little Theatre, and walked away with one award and three nominations. Their production of “Educating Rita” was nominated for Best Actress, Best Costumes, and for the Arnold Connerty Award, which they won for the best use of special effects and lighting for their season changing window.
The cast and crew had been working since January to bring their production to Ottawa. After a successful run at Mount Tabor, which helped them raise money to take their show on the road to compete, they staged their show in Ottawa for a one-day run, which started at 8am and ended at midnight. The crew had to setup and run the show in a larger theatre and with different equipment, and they adapted quickly and pulled off a great show. It was an amazing experience for all involved and the group looks forward to competing in future festivals.
